Adio Becomes New Chairman, OGS '89
The alumni of Ogudu Grammar School, Year 1989 Set, have elected new executive members to lead their association for the next two years. The election took place last Saturday, December 2, 2023, at the school premises in Kosofe, Ketu, Lagos.
The election was conducted by an independent electoral committee headed by Mr. Mojekwu Dozie, a seasoned legal practitioner. The committee ensured a free, fair, and transparent process that allowed all eligible members to cast their votes.
The results of the election are as follows:
- Chairman: Mr. Shakirudeen Olanrewaju Adio Buraimoh
- Vice Chairman: Mrs. Aina Adijat Betty
- Secretary General: Mr. Raji Tajudeen
- Assistant Secretary General: Mr. Anthony Eneh
- Financial Secretary: Mrs. Nike Omotaje
- Treasurer: Rashidat Mrs. Olawale Lawal
- Social Secretary: Mr. Sunday Ogunnusi
- Welfare Officer: Mr. Lukman Oluyide /Officer II: Mrs. Laguda Jumoke/Mrs. Fatimat Akinwale
- Public Relations Officer: Mr. Hakeem Kazeem
- Provost I Mrs. Chioma Iroegbu
- Provost II: Mr. Lateef Shittu
The newly elected executives were sworn in by the outgoing chairman, Mr. Kasim Kasali, who congratulated them and urged them to work together for the progress of the association and the school. He also thanked the electoral committee, the school management, and the members for their support and cooperation.
The new chairman, Mr. Adio Buraimoh Shakiru, expressed his gratitude to the members for entrusting him with the leadership of the association. He promised to uphold the vision and mission of the association, which are to promote the welfare of the alumni, support the development of the school, and foster unity and friendship among the members. He also solicited the cooperation and support of the other executives and the members in achieving these goals.
The election was attended by hundreds of alumni from different parts of the country and abroad, who also used the opportunity to reconnect and reminisce about their school days. The event also featured cultural performances, comedy shows, and musical entertainment by some of the alumni.
The Ogudu Grammar School Alumni Association, Year 1989 Set, was established in 1999, ten years after the graduation of the set from the school. The association has since been involved in various projects and activities to improve the quality of education and infrastructure in the school, as well as to assist the less privileged members of the society. Some of the projects include the renovation of the school library, the donation of books and computers, the award of scholarships and bursaries, and the provision of medical and humanitarian aid.
The association also organizes regular social and recreational events for its members, such as reunions, picnics, seminars, and sports competitions. The association has chapters in different states and countries, where members meet and network with each other.
The association is open to all former students of Ogudu Grammar School, who graduated in 1989, regardless of their current location, occupation, or status. The association aims to maintain a strong bond among its members and to contribute to the development of the school and the society at large.
